Govt bringing laws, taking steps to make social media platforms accountable: IT Minister

During a session in the Rajya Sabha on Friday, IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw disclosed that the government is introducing legislation and implementing measures to hold social media platforms accountable for any defamatory content shared on their platforms. Addressing additional queries during the question hour, the minister stated that the government is revising intermediary rules for social media to combat the spread of misinformation and deepfake content.
