No immunity if firms don’t act on deepfakes: Minister

The Indian government plans to meet with social media platforms to address the issue of deepfakes, according to IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The government has issued a notice to companies regarding deepfakes, and while some steps have been taken, more action is required. The meeting will involve all platforms, including Meta and Google.
